The Day BP Saved My Life

Created by Nathan 2 months ago
It was a damp & humid August 1st in 2022, and like a crazy (mouse in a snake pit) kind of thing I was running a mile a day for Cancer Research. Invincible I thought, having completed the deed of doom, I rode back from Finchampstead and summarily collapsed over a mug of caffeine fuelled Vietnamese coffee (Bill noticed that, one of his gifts – seeing stuff others miss). The phone rang, and Lord Bill was on a merry-go-round of simply checking in (bless), anyway with a heart rate of 200 and BP raising eyebrows, I said I’ll be fine and we had a wonderful chinny-bags for 10 mins. Ah, lovely I thought, such a caring man, probably phoned me with a tennis racket in his hand ðŸ˜Š.

15 minutes later the ding-dong goes and an apparition of Tall Bill is at the door with a BP machine and more aspirin stuffed in his pockets than mine with jelly babies.

He sat with me for an hour saying that unless I felt better it was a swift trip to Royal Berks in the Messerschmitt E450. Well through soft dialogue, banter and about 10 pills, I avoided the F1 sprint to Reading.

So giving, loving, a friend & I let him win every time we played tennis ðŸ˜Š

In my heart forever. Nath
